Dragon Ball Fusion Zine is a fan zine starring the fusion characters in Dragon Ball! We return in 2022 with an optional theme of "Summer Fun". As the theme is optional it is not mandatory that the pieces created for Fu2ion fit with this theme!
For this year we will once again be donating to Minus18, an Australian charity working to better the lives of LGBTQ+ youth.See our schedule page for schedule information.

A printed zine and various merchandise will be produced. The full merchandise list will be announced in the future.

Proceeds and profits will go towards Minus18, an Australian organization that advocates for the social inclusion and a place where all young LGBTQIA+ people are safe, empowered and surrounded with people who support them.Every purchase comes with a free rainbow ribbon which is a direct $2 AUD donation to Minus18.Find out more about them below!

Zine Rules

Fusion zine 2022

  • This year we have included an optional theme of "Summer Fun".

  • This theme is completely optional and you do not need to adhere to the theme if you do not wish to!

  • You may interpret the theme as you deem fit.

  • The theme can be applied to all creations relating to the zine.

  • Fan fictions are allocated 1000-1500 words. Writers will be in contact with our designer to ensure the best fit.

  • The zine piece must contain and focus on a fusion character (popular fannon characters like Bulchi and alike are allowed).

  • The character may be in any form and multiple forms of the same character can be included in the same piece.

  • The character can originate from any dragon ball IP including games and spin offs.

  • The focal character may not be an original character but you may include cameos of your fusion OC if you would like!

  • Fusees and non fusion characters must be side characters or background characters.

  • You may have any amount of characters in your piece as long as the scope does not exceed the given time.

  • No NSFW content.

  • The created media may be in any printable form may it be traditional art, digital art or writing.

Schedule and Timeline

Pre production

  • Public interest check: Feb 25th - March 22nd

  • Guest artist self nomination: March 1st - March 8th

  • Guest artist voting (strawpoll): March 9th - 22nd

  • Applications open: April 1st

  • Applications close: April 30th

  • Participant selection and announcement: May 14th

Production

  • Production: May 16th - September 30th

Post production

  • Pre orders period: October 15th - November 30th

  • Product estimated arrival: January - Febuary 2023

FAQ

Am I able to change the outfits of the characters?
This year's prompt includes "Summer" which means you may include the character in summer themed outfits and scenarios if you wish!I don't want to do the "Summer" theme
That is okay as well! The theme is a "lite theme" which means you do not need to follow the theme if you do not wish to!Can I create NSFW content?
The project is all ages so NSFW content will not be allowed in any way. You may check with the admin if you are unsure about the piece you are creating.Is X character a fusion?!
We believe if you have to question if a character is a fusion or not then the answer is probably no.Will OC content be allowed?
Unfortunately we will not allow OC content. Popular fan fusion characters such as Bulchi can be included.Will ship content be allowed?
Ship content is allowed if the ship contains a fusion!Where will the profits from sales go?
All profits will go to the charity Minus18, there is info on them on our carrd.Who will be producing the merchandise?
Artists will apply as merchandise creators and our admins will be using external manufacturers to produce the items.Where will the items ship from?
Australia.Will there be back up slots available for artists/writers?
Yes! You can apply as a back up creator who act as substitutes for anyone that may drop out."I really want to do X for the zine!! Can I?"
We have a section in our application form for you to write the idea you want to do, so please notify us on the form and we determine if it is eligible for the zine or not!Will there be art of a character more than once?
It may be likely! We will not provide a hard cap on how many of each character is included but we will try to make it diverse.When will we know the list of creators?
When the applications close there will be a 1 week period of selection process and a formal list of creators will be published after.What are the vetting process and submission deadlines?
We will be looking through social media provided by the entrants to dictate if they are a good fit for the zine. Submission deadlines are noted on our schedule.How do artists create the art for the products?
We provide artists with templates that correctly fit within the requirements from our manufacturers.** I want to sell my work, is Fusion Zine a platform for creators to sell work?__
Fusion zine is 100% for charity. All of our profits go towards charity and creators are creating under the understanding that the money is going towards charity. We are not a platform to help creators sell their work for profit.__I'm under 18, can I still apply?**
We encourage you to discuss it with a parent or guardian and go through the application form together. We will do our best to protect and look after minor applicants but we wish for your guardians to know what you are participating in online!
